The plans drawn up for the permanent Clubhouse at Totteridge show a structure strategically positioned to capture extraordinary vistas to the north and west. Philosophically, the building is designed to have all social activities occur on the upper level of the club, thereby capitalizing on 180 degree views of golf and the surrounding hillsides. The Golf Shop, along with all golf support facilities, will be situated on the lower level to provide easy and convenient access to the Cart Staging and Golf Event areas.
The Clubhouse will complement the existing terrain by the incorporation of a "stepped foundation". This design approach creates the appearance, at the Arrival Area, of a large single story structure. Driving into the Club, members will travel through a landscaped Courtyard, and, via a private entry located directly adjacent to the Arrival/Bag Drop area, can conveniently access the Men's Lockers. Members will have the opportunity to dine and relax in the Men's Grill, which includes a private buffet area and bar service. The Grill is situated to provide dramatic views out to golf through a wall of glass doors, as well as a seamless transition to an outdoor covered Patio. An Attendant's station in close proximity will service member's needs. All golf support facilities and services are located directly below the Men's Lockers, and are accessed via stairs located off of the men's Patio.
Another area of the Courtyard provides direct and convenient access to the club's Membership and Administration offices, as well as a multi-use Conference room for small groups. Once inside the Club, an intimate Lobby leads downstairs to the Women's Lockers. Through the Lobby is a Mixed Grill which presents dramatic views out to golf and access to a separate outdoor covered Patio. A centrally located bar conveniently services all dining areas. The Kitchen is situated to provide efficient servicing to a multitude of Club functions, including the Mixed Grill, Men's Grill, and the Event and Hospitality Area.
The appearance of the Clubhouse blends well with the site and which will be augmented by a selection of natural and time honored construction materials. As an extension of the Totteridge vision, the Clubhouse fully complements the mission.
